Have you recovered from Thanksgiving feast or black Friday shopping? In the chaos of the holiday season it is important to remember to take some time for yourself.  It isn’t fair to work so hard that you don’t enjoy the fruits of your labor. There is also the fact that taking time for yourself helps you enjoy the holidays without heads rolling.   I look forward to the Christmas every year but I also forget how it takes a toll on me.  I pull out the decorations, I bake, I wrap, I run but do I take enough time to sit and enjoy my decorated apartment or my yummy holiday cookies?

It is a constant balancing act where I often land on my face. Face down drooling on my Christmas pillow while I miss the relaxing moments with friends and family as well as the perfectly mixed southern comfort egg nog. It isn’t about the decorations or the perfectly selected presents it’s about the reason you gather and the people you surround yourself with.  Absorb every moment because they are here and gone before you can take a mental photo for safe keeping. Make another list of things and people that are important to you this holiday season. That will help you keep your sanity and keep the focus on the important things.  Gifts come and go, they break and shatter but relationships will carry you through.
